Marchica E-Foil Cup 2026: Nador Hosts Africa’s First-Ever World Championship of Its Kind

The city of Nador made history by hosting the Marchica E-Foil Cup World Championship 2026, marking a landmark moment for the region as the first event of its kind ever held on the African continent. E-Foil is a cutting-edge water sport that uses an electric-powered board equipped with a hydrofoil, allowing riders to glide and fly above the water’s surface at remarkable speed and fluidity.
The championship was held under the slogan “Sport, Innovation, and Territorial Influence,” bringing together an elite field of Moroccan and international competitors. Spain’s Manel Arba Zuriguel claimed the men’s title, while America’s Agnes Wicander took the women’s crown. On the local front, Morocco’s Jamal ElKabyr stood out as the top Moroccan competitor of the tournament, reflecting the growing talent in the country’s water sports scene.
Nador’s edition marks the third stop on the World Tour 2026, following previous legs held in Germany and France, placing Morocco firmly on the global map of modern water sports. The event was supported by the Moroccan National Tourist Office alongside other partners, underlining a shared ambition to position the region as a distinguished sports and tourism destination.
This championship reflects the rapid rise of modern water sports along the Rif coast and across Morocco, opening the door to future international events that combine technological innovation, sporting excellence, and regional development.
